Sub-Branches


Sub-Branch Information

Sub-branches offer an opportunity for ASHHNA members to establish a formal local mechanism in which to meet and promotes and enhances networking and communication between sexual and reproductive health and HIV nurses within a designed geographical area and / or state.

Sub-branches aim to:

  • Provide a direct line of communication between members and the executive
  • Ensure local issues are dealt with appropriately
  • Provide a forum for networking in common geographical areas
  • Provide a local forum for the exchange of information
  • Provide local educational activities for members

Requirements of a Sub-Branch

 

  • Sub-Branches shall have regular meetings (no fewer than four per year).
  • Sub-Branches shall have at least five members
  • All Sub-Branches members shall be financial members of ASHHNA
  • Sub-Branches shall have a secretary who will be the contact person with the ASHHNA Sub-Branch Liasion Officer
  • Minutes of Sub-Branches meetings (including attendance) shall be sent to the Liasion Officer and tabled at Executive Committee meetings
  • Any correspondence out shall be written on ASHHNA letterhead (with appropriate Sub-Branch contact address/phone number/fax number) and a copy sent to the ASHHNA Secretary for filing
  • Any correspondence to outside agencies shall be viewed by at least two members of the Executive prior to sending out
  • Sub-Branches shall contribute a biannual report for the ASHHNA newsletter

Sub Branch Liasion Officer

A formal process for liasion between sub branches and the executive exists and is faciliated by the Executive Sub-Branch Liasion Officer. This process comprises an exchange of information related both to issues of formal business and any activities undertaken. The responsibilities of the Sub Branch liasion officer include:

  • Dissemination of minutes from each Executive Committee meeting to each Sub-Branches Secretary
  • Forwarding the minutes from each Sub-Branch Secretary to the Executive Secretary
  • Reporting on Sub-Branch activities at each General and Annual General Meeting
  • Acting as advocate for Sub-Branches at an Executive level
  • Providing the Editor with written reports from individual Sub-Branches for publication in the tri-annual newsletter.
